Find me on the ocean floor,
undulating against marine tides.
Is this the birthplace of invisibility?
Where life is only an answer to unknown rogue stimuli?
Taking cover, in and under the weighty vapor of darkness;
these vortex rings create locomotion for the sole purpose of remaining still.
And so I have remained, for millions of years.
Moving at the whim of her bosom.
Shon Mapp writes poetry and short stories that explore the physicality of cultural identity, nuclear kinship, and queer intimacy. Born in Barbados, she immigrated to the U.S. at a young age. She moved to Vienna, Austria in 2019 with her wife. Inspired by the diverse artistic community in Vienna, she also creates mixed media art and ekphrastic poetry.
